モリシップランの万葉集英訳

VOLUME-3
☆Another poem of Kurohito:

桜田へ
 鶴鳴き渡る
  年魚市潟
潮干にけらし
 鶴鳴き渡る
(黒人の歌 巻3-271)

Sakuradahe
 Tazu nakiwataru
  Ayushikata
Shiho hinikerashi
 Tazu nakiwataru

Crowned cranes cry and cross
Lagoons that have run up dry –
There they take to sky.
Where are they all flying for?
Crowned cranes cry and cross the sky…
(Vol.3-271)

Here too, Kurohito sings about something (crowned cranes, in this case) going away to an unknown destination, and his sense of unease and solitude. Mr. Tada, author of “Man-Yoh-Shuh Handbook” comments in his book that, perhaps Kurohito let this piece sound like an oral recital or like a folksong by repeating a phrase similar to another in this short poem (Crowned cranes ….).
