VOLUME-1
☆Kakinomoto-no Hitomaro’s poem

伊勢の国に行幸(イデマ)す時に京(ミヤコ)
に留まれる柿本朝臣人麻呂作る歌

あみの浦に
 船乗りせむと
  をとめらが
玉裳の裾に
 潮満つらむか
(巻1-40)

Amino-urani
 Funanori semuto
  Wotomeraga
Tamamono susoni
 Shio mitsuramuka
   (Vol.1-40)

On to Toba Bay,
Rowing out would be young fair maids –
Would the rising waves
Reach the hem of pearly drapes –
Drapes they wear lest it feels cold?

(This poem made by The Courtier Kakinomoto-no Hitomaro, who stayed behind in the Palace when the Empress made a trip to Ise Province. Vol.1-40)

“Amino-Ura” appearing in the original poem seems to be referring to a bay in Toba area in Ise province, and the translation was made as “Toba Bay”.
