 野に炎(カギロヒ)の
  立つ見えて
かへり見すれば
 月傾(カタブ)きぬ

 Noni kagirohino
  Tatsu miete
Kaheri misureba
 Tsuki katabukinu

Where the sky meets the earth;
In the east, is the glory,
Rising from the dawn;
Turning back on to the west,
Down atilt the moon has gone…

This is one of the best known pieces of poetry in the whole collection, depicting, and offering a sense of presence in, a panoramic scene of the nature.
