“Who’s there in the dusk?” –
Passers-by ask that question

As I wait for my dear one,
All wet in September mist...

I cannot tell if the poet is a man or a woman, besides that the name itself is unknown, although I put a mark with a black star on top of the page (which, in my way, signifies a man as a poet, while a white star a female).
In a European manner of drama, it may well be a man, as in Romeo And Juliet, where Romeo serenades outside Juliet’s abode, and a woman courting (or waiting to court) outside a house is not quite conceivable. But in my feel, Japanese drama or courting scene could let a woman wait for her loved one even in the rain. What do you think?
“Tasokare” could have a double meaning – “Who is it?” and “Dusk”, thus the first line of my English lyrics. “Nagatsuki” is an ancinent name for September, literally put “Long Month”, as compared to the modern name “Kugatsu”, i.e. “Ninth Month”.
