This month, I have gotten yet another tune uploaded on YouTube:- This month’s song is Beyond The Horizon” (Original – “Kimi-wo Nosete”)

“Beyond The Horizon” (Original 君をのせて– “Kimi-wo Nosete”)
The original song, “Kimi-wo Nosete”, was composed by Jo Hisaishi and the lyrics were written by Hayao Miyazaki, sung by Azumi Inoue, and another version sung by Tokyo Suginami-Ward Children’s Chorus Group. (My song uploaded on YouTube this time is by the latter version, without refrain)
English lyrics were written by Hidekazu (Morris) Morishisma.

Beyond the horizon, I see a gleam of dawn.
Somewhere the flames of lights wave to us all to come.
I know why so warmly and kindly we are drawn
Toward that twinkling unknown star – that’s where my Father was!

Let us fill our backpack with a loaf of bread and a knife,
And an oil lamp and the Holy Stone that will be our guide!

(*refrain)
We’ll fly to Laputa, the Castle in the Sky,
With Father’s legacy and Mother’s love as wings.
Beyond the horizon, and through the clouds, we fly,
To the land where trees are green, and the birds so merrily sing.

We’ll fly to Laputa, the Castle in the Sky
Where we’d breathe with the summer winds, and weave with the winter lights!

Have posted three songs with English lyrics on YouTube. More to come in the coming months.

Now, in addition to the posting of score sheets and lyrics cards, we have a new experience – my own singing. I set up link buttons on my BILOG with YouTube where I sing Japanese songs with English lyrics. All you have to do is to click the button and there you have the song! I just wanted to give you an idea how to start singing Japanese songs with English lyrics, how to ride on the melody and rhythm with English lyrics. I hope you would find it fun trying to do it. I’m singing, sometimes transposing (shifting up or down) the key of the original song for easier singing. I will in the near future also give my vocal version to other songs I already introduced on my BILOG here. I really hope that somebody out there, yes, you, will sing these songs in English and introduce them to your families and friends. My goal is to contribute to an international friendship and cultural exchange in this manner.
